Jerrold Nadler for New York Congressional District 10 for 2020 Elections
Newtown, CT - The Newtown Action Alliance is proud to endorse House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler for New York Congressional District 10 for 2020 Elections.
Chairman Nadler was elected in a special election to represent New York’s 10th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives in 1992. He is currently serving his 14th consecutive full term and his record on gun violence prevention has been consistently strong. Earlier in his career in Congress, Representative Nadler authored legislation that would prevent the sale of firearms to sex offenders and would improve the Federal Assault Weapons Ban of 1994. Chairman Nadler is now running for re-election to represent New York’s 10th Congressional District.
In 2019, he led the House Judiciary Committee’s effort to pass H.R.8, Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019 and H.R. 1112, Enhanced Background Checks Act of 2019. He also supports the Denver Accord, a declaration of guiding principles and a comprehensive set of policies to end the scourge of gun violence in America.
Chairman Nadler recently demonstrated yet again his commitment to championing policy change in response to gun violence. In September 2019, Chairman Nadler held the first House Judiciary Committee hearing on assault weapons in decades and led the passage of a series of bills out of House Judiciary Committee to help reduce gun violence: 1) H.R. 1236, the Extreme Risk Protection Order Act of 2019, amended to also include provisions from the H.R. 3076, the Federal Extreme Risk Protection Order Act; 2) H.R. 1186, Keep Americans Safe Act to ban large capacity magazines; and 3) H.R. 2708, Disarm Hate Act.
