Newtown Action Alliance, Orange Ribbons for Jaime and #NoRA Joint Statement On Federal Court Ruling on 3D Guns
Newtown, CT- Newtown Action Alliance, #NoRA, and Orange Ribbons for Jaime released the following joint statement after U.S. District Court Judge Robert Lasnik issued a preliminary injunction requiring the State Department to block the distribution of downloadable blueprints for 3D-printed guns until the matter is resolved in court:
“We thank Judge Lasnik for issuing this important order. As he noted, these guns will result in irreparable harm in our streets, schools, places of business, and our homes. There is no need for anyone around the globe to produce an untraceable - and sometimes undetectable - firearm, circumventing background checks and other important state and federal gun regulations.
We are grateful to the Attorneys General who joined this lawsuit, and to the lawmakers who have introduced federal legislation to permanently protect us from these deadly weapons. We call on all lawmakers to support these common-sense laws introduced in the House by Representatives Cicilline, Moulten, Deutchand the Senate by Senators Nelson, Blumenthal, Markey, Menendez and Schumer.
It is now the responsibility of President Trump, Secretary Pompeo, and Attorney General Sessions to enforce this court-ordered prohibition. They are legally mandated to do so and the safety of the American people demands that they comply.”

Orange Ribbons For Jaime (https://orangeribbonsforjaime.org/) is a 501(C)(3) foundation whose purpose will be to support causes important to Jaime in life, but also causes that will deal with the way her life was tragically cut short. We will look to make donations in the world of dance, and to organizations that deal with bullying and children with special needs. On February 14th, 2018 our 14-year-old daughter Jaime Guttenberg, along with 16 other victims at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School were tragically murdered by a troubled former student. Orange Ribbons For Jaime will honor our daughter by supporting programs that were important to her, as well as those dedicated to pursuing common sense gun safety reforms.
